Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 October 2026. Short version: we use your email to send you the free program you asked for. News about new programs only if you tick that box. No ads, no selling, no trackers, no cookies.

Who we are

Mentor of the House is run by a small team of researchers and parents. We are the controller of your personal data. Contact: hello@mentorofthehouse.com. Postal address: [to be added before launch].

What we collect

  • Your email address (required) and first name (optional).
  • A record of your signup: when you subscribed, the version of these terms, whether you ticked the optional news box and its exact wording, which form you used, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your network address that cannot be turned back into the address.
  • Your time zone offset, so lessons arrive in your morning.
  • Which lessons we have sent you and when, and whether you unsubscribed.

We do not collect anything about your children. This website sets no cookies and loads no analytics or advertising scripts.

Why, and on what legal basis

We use this data to send you the program you asked for, one lesson a day, and to honor an unsubscribe. The legal basis is providing the service you requested (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). You can stop it at any time with one click in any email.

If you tick "Send me occasional news about new programs", we may also email you about new programs. The legal basis for that is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time without affecting anything we sent before. If you don't tick it, you only get the lessons.

Who processes it

We host the website and store your data with Amazon Web Services, and send emails with Amazon Simple Email Service, in the United States (us-east-1). Amazon acts as our processor under its data processing terms. For people in the EU, UK and Switzerland, transfers to the United States rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the standard contractual clauses in Amazon's terms. We do not sell or share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep it

While you are subscribed, and until the program ends. If you unsubscribe, we keep only a minimal record that you opted out, so we never email you again by mistake. If you choose "delete my data", we erase your record entirely. Email logs at our provider expire on their own schedule.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to get a copy of it. The unsubscribe page lets you delete your data yourself. For anything else, email us and we will answer within one month. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

Changes

If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and, for anything significant, tell you by email before it applies.
